TB-500 is almost always mentioned in the same breath as BPC-157. They're genuinely related in what they're studied for — but they aren't the same thing.
What TB-500 actually is
TB-500 is a synthetic version of a fragment of thymosin beta-4, a protein your body already produces. Thymosin beta-4 is found in most human cells and turns up in high concentration at wound sites, which is what drew research attention to it.
The mechanism people usually skip
Thymosin beta-4's main known job is binding actin. Actin is one of the proteins cells use to build their internal scaffolding — and, crucially, to move.
That matters because healing is largely a migration problem. Repairing tissue requires cells to travel to where damage occurred. Research interest in TB-500 centres on that cell-movement step.

The same honest caveat
As with BPC-157, the bulk of TB-500 research is animal and laboratory work. Controlled human trials are limited. Interesting early science is not the same as established human evidence, and the distance between them is where most overclaiming happens.
Worth knowing
TB-500 is on the World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list. If you're in any tested sport, that's a relevant fact independent of the research.
